Ascendra policies
Privacy Policy
How we handle information used to provide and protect the Ascendra learning platform.
Last updated: 20 August 2026
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Ascendra, we may collect your name, email address, mobile number, account and student information, course enrolments, payment records, learning progress, quiz and assignment activity, certificate information, support messages, and contact preferences.
We may also collect limited device, browser, session, IP address, and security log information needed to operate, troubleshoot, and protect the service. Payment card details are generally entered into the payment provider's checkout rather than stored directly by Ascendra.
2. How we use information
- Creating accounts and completing email, mobile, or OTP verification.
- Managing enrolment, monthly or full-course access, learning progress, assessments, live classes, and certificates.
- Processing, confirming, reconciling, and supporting payments and refunds.
- Providing student support, service notices, reminders, and permitted notifications.
- Preventing abuse, securing accounts, diagnosing faults, performing analytics, and improving the service.
- Meeting legal, accounting, dispute-resolution, and record-keeping obligations.
3. Service providers and disclosures
We may share only the information reasonably necessary with service providers that help us operate Ascendra. These may include PayHere for payment processing, email providers, SMS providers such as SMSlenz, hosting and infrastructure providers, analytics or security services, and video or conferencing platforms used for classes.
Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the platform, or in connection with a legitimate business transfer. We do not publish private student learning or payment records as part of our public website.
4. Cookies and sessions
Ascendra uses cookies and similar session technologies for sign-in, security, preferences such as theme selection, and essential platform operation. Disabling essential cookies may prevent account or learning features from working correctly.
5. Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, preserve academic and payment records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal or accounting requirements. Retention periods may differ by record type.
6. Your requests
You may ask to access or correct relevant personal information, or request account deletion. We may need to verify your identity. Some records may be retained where necessary for legal, financial, security, academic-integrity, or dispute-resolution purposes, and deletion may end access to purchased or enrolled courses.
Please contact us through the contact details provided on Ascendra.lk.
7. Children and student information
Where a learner is under the age at which they can independently provide valid consent, a parent, guardian, school, or other authorised person should assist with registration and use. Users must not provide information about a child without appropriate authority.
8. Third-party links and policy changes
Ascendra may link to external websites or services that we do not control. Review their privacy practices before providing information. We may update this policy as the platform, providers, or legal requirements change; the updated date above identifies the current version.
9. Related terms
Your use of Ascendra is also governed by our Terms & Conditions. Payment refund handling is described in our Refund Policy.
